New Prospect Community hosts a large, rural, well-maintained cemetery and the New Prospect Church,
located off Highway 124 about 3 miles east of Beckville. Turn left on CR 212 approximately 0.4 of a mile.
The Old Shreveport-Douglasville road runs beside the cemetery. It is well-fenced, with cyclone fence,
and very well kept. There are a good many unnamed graves, but small metal crosses mark the sites. An
Old Building directly across the road from the cemetery is the Old Stage Coach Inn. There is a shaded
area with tables and in the front of the Church is a brick planter that forms an arch way that says New Prospect Church, There is a plaque" In loving memory of Billy Charles Dailey Sr. and James Connelly "Doll" Dailey, a Son and Father who were longtime members.
At the entrance to the cemetery there are four crepe myrtle trees with 4 markers that states: Given on behalf of 1. Scarlett Gray, 2. Joey Gray, 3. Tara Gray, and 4 Belinda Gray, by DAD.
There is a Texas Historical Marker that Reads: This cemetery began in 1870 in the rural community once known as Scruggs. The oldest grave is that of Elizabeth Scruggs 1820-1870. Robert Alexander Craig and his wife Martha Jane Freeland Craig donated the land. This cemetery contains more than 100 unmarked graves and contains many veterans of the civil was, WWI, WWII, and the Korea War.
